Upon completion, successful graduates receive Parent Coach Certification® a graduate-level designation vetted by two universities-Seattle Pacific University (SPU) and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).
We are now accepting applications for Sept. Start. Application deadline is August 13, 2021.

Who Is It For?
PCI’s Parent Coach Training Program provides Parent Coach Certification®–signifying the highest standard in the industry–for professionals seeking to begin their own parent coaching practice or who want to demonstrate a comprehensive parent coach training to their school or organization.
Combining content and a coaching practicum experience, PCI’s program was uniquely designed for professionals working with parents. Listen to our founder, Gloria DeGaetano (highlight and link to 5 Advantages Page) explain why and how she developed the program for professionals already working with parents in some capacity. It meets the varied needs and learning styles of family support professionals who work full-time and yet want to delve into a comprehensive parent coach training experience, that is via distance, comprehensive, and personalized.
How Does It Work?
Upon enrollment, students have access to an on-line portal where they download the course manual, articles PDFs, and audio lectures for each course. In addition, the student portal provides examples of coaching sessions for students to examine the PCI Coaching ModelTM (link to Coaching Model Page) in depth.
Time commitment
Students should anticipate spending at least 5-7 hours a week for study and coaching practice throughout the year.
Practice coaching
Coaching practice begins after Course 1 with a cohort colleague as Client 1. Students are responsible for obtaining parent clients 2-10 for their pro bono coaching practice. Ideally two parent clients (in addition to cohort colleague) during C. 2 and 3 clients during Course 3 and 4 clients during Course 4 will round out 10 coaching clients, coached for 10 sessions each during the Coaching Practicum.
Cohort meetings
Students meet twice monthly with their cohort and instructor for 1.5-hour discussions (via Zoom). Students share their insights and questions about what they have been studying. Students are required to participate in these cohort discussions. They choose either a 9AM (Pacific Time) cohort or a 4PM (Pacific Time) cohort. These cohort discussions take place either on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. During the application process, students receive the specific dates of cohort discussions and they choose which cohort fits their schedule best. We record all cohort discussions and make them available, so if something comes up students don’t have to miss a thing.
Assessment
During the program, students are assessed for their understanding, participation, and application of the coaching model and growth as a parent coach. At any point in their parent coach training, students have access to a PCI instructor who will guide them through the process and meet with them outside of class times to discuss any clarifications necessary.
Hear From PCI grads
Students attracted to our program are intelligent, creative, and dedicated professionals. Each student is assigned a colleague in his/her time zone that can serve as a study buddy to discuss course content outside of the scheduled calls sessions. Many PCI students find collegial friends for life! Graduates are quick to agree that the year journey toward becoming a PCI Certified Parent Coach® is a unique experience of professional growth and personal fulfillment.
